This morning proceed for an excursion to the most important historical place in Uttarakhand, Baijnath, situated on the banks of the Gomti river, 19 km away from Kausani. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Baijnath temple here was built thousands of years ago and can still be admired for its carvings and sculptures. The temple is made up of a cluster of Shiv-Parvati temple. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married here. Later, proceed to Anasakti Ashram. It is here that Mahatma Gandhi stayed at the Anasakti ashram in the year 1929 for 14 days. Since his stay here, the place is called as "Gandhi ashram". The Father of the Nation wrote his book on 'Anasakti Yoga', while he was residing at the ashram.

Corbett National Park was established in 1936 in order to protect the endangered species, Bengal Tiger. It is named after the British-Indian naturalist and hunter, Jim Corbett. About 73% of the park is covered by dense forests while 10 % consists of grasslands. It is home to about 50 species of mammals, 25 species of reptiles and about 580 bird species.
Note : Corbett National Park remains open throughout the year for the visitors from Jhirna zone but the best time to visit Corbett is from 15th November to 15th June.
